I-94 ACCIDENT TAKES LIFE OF 17 YEAR OLD

FRIDAY NIGHT SHORTLY AFTER 8 AN ACCIDENT ON I-94 TOOK THE LIFE A 17 YEAR OLD RICHLAND GIRL.

REPORTS FROM THE BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY INDICATE A SEMI WAS STOPPED ON I-94 NEAR AIRPORT ROAD WHEN A SATURN STATION WAGON RAN INTO THE BACK OF THAT TRAILER. THE 17 YEAR OLD WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT OF THE CAR. THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI WAS NOT INJURED. OFFICERS BELIEVE THE DRIVER OF THE SATURN WAS TEXTING AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

A FLAT TIRE LEAD TO A MULTIPLE CAR, CHAIN REACTION ACCIDENT ON FRIDAY THE 13TH ON I-94 AT U.S. 127. A WOMAN FROM SPRING ARBOR TOWNSHIP STOPPED HER CAR IN THE PASSING LANE ON I-94 WITH HAZARDS ON FOR THE FLAT TIRE. JOYCE WOKI EXITED HER VEHICLE. A SECOND VEHICLE HEADING EAST RAN INTO THE BACK OF THAT CAR. ONE ADULT AND TWO CHILDREN FROM ADRIAN WERE INJURED IN THAT VEHICLE, THEY WERE TAKEN TO ALLEGIANCE HEALTH FOR NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. A THIRD VEHICLE DRIVEN BY MARIE LANE OF JACKSON WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN THE CRASH BUT SHE WAS NOT INJURED. TWO OTHER VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT BUT NO OTHER INJURIES WERE REPORTED THE ACCIDENT CAUSED EASTBOUND I-94 TO BE CLOSED FOR SEVERAL HOURS FRIDAY NIGHT.
